January 19, 2014 – This is a replay of the live webcast of the 2014 US Half Marathon Championship, where I placed 5th in a new personal best 61:47.

January 8, 2014 – One of my last hard workouts heading into the 2014 US Half Marathon Championship, where I placed 5th in a new personal best 61:47.  I was really unhappy with this workout and pleaded with Coach Ben Rosario not to put it up; however, he correctly pointed out that I’m human and will not nail every workout every time.  I think it’s important for our followers/fans to know that professional runners are not invincible.  We all have bad days now and then.

Goal: 5 mile tempo run at 4:50 pace

Result: (4:47, 4:49, 4:51, 4:59, 5:02) = 24:32 overall

December, 2013 – A workout that I did about three weeks before setting a personal best 61:47 at the 2014 US Half Marathon Championship in Houston.

Goal: 3 x 3 miles at 15:00 each

November 6, 2013 – One of my last workouts leading into the .US Championship 12K in Alexandria, VA, where I placed 7th.  Mile repeats are one of my favorite workouts, and I was satisfied with this one.  It was a fun day with lots of moving parts.

Goal: 6 x mile at 4:32

Result: 4:32, 4:32, 4:32, 4:31, 4:34, 4:33

——————————————————————————————————

September 12, 2013 – This was one of my last workouts leading into the Great Cow Harbor 10K in Northport, NY, where I ended up placing 3rd.  The workout is a 3 mile tempo run (4:50 goal pace), followed by 6 x 1 minute hill repeats (effort-based).  It didn’t go particularly well, but it was good work nonetheless. Goal: 3 mile tempo at 4:50 pace + 6 x 1 minute hill repeats Result: 4:40, 4:51, 4:53 = 14:25 overall time; hills were comfortably uncomfortable.
